USC BIM & You | 10th Annual USC BIM Conference | July 22nd

As Keren Kensek, our fave USC Architecture Professor is hosting a local BIM Conference that you don't want to miss (if you ask us ;) -As Karen wrote:

The Tenth Annual BIM Conference: Efficient, Productive, and Profitable Workflows is being held at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, on Friday, July 22^nd, from 8 am – 5 pm.

This month we are pleased to have Richard Taylor from Ideate talking all sorts of I.

I as in Information; the literal and figurative fulcrum and center-point of BIM.

Richard will be followed by an open session with The Consortium, where you can bring any Q's to which we will provide some A's... and yes, I mean question and answer time, so bring it -and we'll try to help :)

Now back to the main presentation...and I paraphrase:
Excel permeates the AECO industries as a workhorse for a wide range of BIM related tasks; from cost estimating to data management, scheduling and (the oft cited herein) more...
In this presentation Mr. Taylor will cover and uncover Excel processes and functions used (and perhaps under-used) in AECO.
Learning Objectives:
• How to generate Pivot Tables to show counts and Area summaries.
• Create a drop-down list of all Space Types so they can be used to assign values to Spaces
• Concatenate
• Replace & Substitute
• Dissect the use of IF/THEN statements to calculate fixture quantity requirements based on the number of occupants...

Veronica's presentation will focus from an Interiors' perspective and should fit in well with our host (Gensler) and their... interior(s) :D

February Meeting News | Apologies All Around

Yes, the February meeting was cancelled at the last minute due to the speaker backing out the night before the meeting.

This is the first time we have had to cancel a meeting in such a manner and we all agree that the short notice (while unavoidable) was a really shi... uhh... really unfortunate thing to have to do.

Everyone who helps LARUG run (mostly) smoothly ;) apologize and we will endeavor to NOT have such issues repeated.

We will be back in March so see you soon...
