4D is the new 3D | LARUG February 2013

What is time anyhow? @LARUG

While J is approaching what some feel is a milestone in his growing # of D's (ok, let's call them years), it seems fitting that, as this posting's title states: 4D is the new 3D!!! If you read it with the proper intonation, you should get the inference...anyhow...

LARUG is extremely pleased to announce a unique presentation by our esteemed colleague Matthew Miller.

Matthew Miller, VDC/BIM Coordinator for BuildLACCD will take us on a look into 4D scheduling inside of Revit. This presentation will give examples and methods for preparing 4D look ahead sheets, animations, and exporting to viewing platforms, all from the same project views.

We will look at out of the box set-up with shared parameters and .csv files.

By looking at some of the ways that 4D can be accomplished within the Revit environment users can also become better informed on the benefits of available Revit Add-Ins applications and beyond.

So if you are in LA, or even another part of the world (and frankly we all are!!!) -and you want to join in please do so, either at RTKL (to get the extra benefit of networking, getting to ask your questions and the wonderful food and drink provided by our gracious sponsors: UsCad, Microdesk and Kelar Pacific).

Those not in LA can watch live on Wednesday, February 27th at 6pm (presentations start about 6:30) -All times PST (GMT -9 -I believe is the case for now) See you there!!!

@LARUG | January 2013 Meeting

RECORDED SESSION RIGHT HERE :-)

Happy New Year's are out of the way, it's time to get back to it!!!
We meet Wednesday, Jan 23rd, 6pm at RTKL 333 South Hope Street #C200 LA, CA 90017

This month we will be having a two part meeting, beginning with a dialogue between Marcello Sgambelluri & Jay Zallan:
The Irrationality of Non Rationalization.

THEN

Marcello will take us into:
Analyze That!

Using the Analytical Editing tools to model in Revit for Architects, Engineers and designers Marcello will show you how to use the analytical model to its full advantage.

The analytical model editing tools are more powerful than the physical model editing tools.

Marcello will show you how to use the analytical adjustment tools to help edit, modify and fine tune your physical model.

This course will include how to modify, slabs, walls, and beams and this could be used by architects engineers and designers so please everyone attend!

...and it's sure to be enlightening!!!

The Consortium is Growing

Recently at AU we had the pleasure of not only meeting but I was happy in having a small part in getting our newest Consortium member over to the USA, Vegas and AU for his first time... Please help us welcome the two newest members of the LARUG Leadership Consortium: The aforementioned Martijn de Riet and Darren Roos.

Martijn has already penned some fantastic articles in AUGIworld, as well as being a moderator for the Revit Forum (RFO), plus he is, as he states: a "Former building engineer gone rogue. Freelance BIM & Revit consultant. Brutally honest, straightforward. Boxtel, Netherlands" http://www.mdr-advies.nl

Darren has now been through his first major presentation (AKA: Trial by Fire) with The Consortium's Marcello Sgambelluri, Troy Gates and Jay Zallan and he not only held his own but capped the Coordinate and Dominate class with perfectly astounding technological advances helping AECO and the processes of getting the built environment built...well, ...better!!!

Since Martijn, Darren, Joe, Brian and Jennifer could not make the annual LARUG Consortium End of Year Party in person we raised a toast to you all and not only wish you the greatest of New Years but also look forward to the future with all of your ongoing input, leadership, support and guidance!!!

I for one can say I am better for knowing and working with you all, THANK YOU!!!
